Marilia de Cara is the interim Legal Director for Booking.com, a technology company focused on travel. Booking.com was started in 1996 in Amsterdam and offers travel-related services, including accommodation, transportation, and experience on a global basis. The company connects with twenty-eight million people, and the tech platform is available in forty-tree languages.
Marila has held the Interim Legal Director role since July 2023. Previously at Booking.com, she served as the senior management counsel for fintech – Global. Before joining Booking.com, Marilia was the Payments Legal Director – Latam for Uber. Before working in Uber’s payment sector, Marilia was engaged in commercial law, banking law, mergers and acquisitions, financing, exchange controls, credit cards, and fintech. Marilia has a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of So Paulo USP (2007), a master’s Degree in Commercial Law from the University of So Paulo (2013), and an LL.M. from the University of Columbia (2015).
