Rania Llewellyn is the former President and CEO of Laurentian Bank, Canada’s eighth-largest bank with offices in Canada and the U.S. Rania became the first woman to head a major Canadian charted bank in 2020. Rania is a success story, having immigrated from the Middle East and, through demanding work, was extended significant leadership positions. Rania is known for building high-performing teams that are equity-based. 

Before joining the Laurentian Bank of Canada, Rania most recently served as the Scotiabank Global Business Payments sector EVP. She oversaw Scotiabank’s worldwide payments strategy and vision, executing a company-wide payments mandate that involved improving operational efficiency, using innovative technologies, and launching innovative programs to boost revenue and better serve customers.

Rania also managed Scotiabank’s cash management, treasury services, trade finance, digital & mobile channels, and correspondent banking operations with a worldwide workforce of 450 workers. Rania is well-versed in the repercussions for the international business community and the advantages for consumers seeking a streamlined and trouble-free method of sending and receiving payments internationally and managing deposits.
