Julie is the Chief Executive Officer at Merchant Risk Council, starting in 2020 and continuing to the present. Before this, she co-founded the Merchant Risk Council (MRC) and was a member of the ITRC board of directors from 1999–2009, where she developed and oversaw the Victim Assistance Program. The program notifies and assists consumers whose identities have been compromised and discovered on crime servers by law enforcement. She is a well-known industry expert on Internet payment fraud and a popular conference speaker. She owns several technology patents that secure order processing and prevent fraudulent electronic transactions. Before joining MRC, she was on the Merchant Advisory Board at the Direct Response Forum and Payments Ed Forum, and she joined Ethoca in 2010 to help drive the company’s collaborative e-commerce fraud prevention platform’s adoption. Fergerson was previously the Vice President of Emerging Technologies at Debix.
